The South African Supreme Court ruled that the family of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu has the right to decide where he will be buried. This decision overturned a previous ruling by the High Court that allowed the Zambian government to repatriate his body for a national funeral. Lungu, who served as president from 2015 to 2021, died in South Africa in 2025 while receiving medical treatment, and his body has been held there since.
