New research highlighting ways to reduce food losses and improve nutrition in Kenya was presented in Nairobi on Tuesday, according to Capital FM. The findings were shared during a convening organised by TechnoServe, which brought together researchers, government officials, donors and private-sector players. The meeting reviewed three years of research and implementation under the NutriSave programme, which focuses on cutting post-harvest food losses while boosting nutritional outcomes across the country.

TechnoServe convened researchers, donors, private-sector leaders and other food-system actors in Nairobi on 8 September for an event titled Waste Less, Nourish More: Evidence, Action, and the Future of Food Systems Convening. According to Business Today, the gathering focused on a roadmap to reduce food loss and improve nutrition in Kenya, bringing together stakeholders from across the food system to discuss evidence and action on the issue.

Africa has the land, water and human capital to become a major global food producer, but a persistent financing gap is holding back smallholder farmers, youth and women at the "first mile" of the continent's food systems, according to IFAD Vice President Geraldine Mukeshimana. She said increased financing for these groups is essential to securing Africa's food future, as reported by the Eastleigh Voice.

New and traditional methods of cooking and adding value to meat are transforming Kenya's livestock and meat sector, with traders and innovators using technology and new knowledge to attract consumers, according to Taifa Leo. This emerged at the Kenya Meat Expo 2026, organised by Nation Media Group alongside the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and other stakeholders. The fifth edition of the expo was held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi from August 26 to 28, drawing farmers, processors and traders.

The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has received the Norman E. Borlaug Medallion from the World Food Prize Foundation, recognizing its two decades of efforts in transforming food systems across Africa. Since its establishment in 2006, AGRA has collaborated with various partners, including governments and NGOs, to enhance agricultural practices and food security on the continent.

The Federal Government has inaugurated a modern vegetable market in Gombe State, aimed at enhancing market access for farmers and strengthening the agricultural value chain. This initiative is part of efforts to boost the food supply chain in the region.
