Former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai appeared in two separate courts in Kaduna on Wednesday to face charges of alleged financial misconduct, abuse of office, and money laundering. These charges were filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The proceedings took place at the Federal High Court II, overseen by Justice Hauwa’u Buhari.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed concern regarding the ongoing detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. He criticized President Bola Tinubu for comments made by spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, which suggested that there is no hunger in Nigeria. Atiku warned against what he termed indirect denial of bail for El-Rufai, highlighting the implications of such actions.

The Federal High Court in Kaduna has scheduled a ruling for July 1, 2026, regarding bail applications submitted by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, according to Naija News.
