The Federal High Court in the state capital has once again prohibited journalists from entering the courtroom during the trial of former governor Nasir El’Rufai. El’Rufai arrived at the court under security escort as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) continues its case against him regarding alleged financial misconduct.

Tumaini Nyamhokya, the President of the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA), has urged journalists in the country to join trade unions to strengthen solidarity and protect their workplace interests. He made this call on May 25, 2026, during training organized in collaboration with the Journalists' Association and Workers in the Sector.
