The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) of Somalia conducted an operation in Basra that resulted in the death of a leader of an Al-Shabaab mortar unit. According to NISA, this operation significantly impacted the network responsible for planning and executing mortar attacks. However, subsequent intelligence reports suggested that the group removed the bodies of their slain leaders from the site and buried them elsewhere.
