The Somali security agency has killed Ahmed Eybka Aalim, also known as Daqare, the leader of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, along with six other members in Basra Village. They were reportedly involved in deploying explosives intended to instigate terror in the Horn of Africa, according to Tanzania Times.

Brigadier General Jackson Kayanja, the Sector One Commander, has urged officers and troops of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) serving in Somalia under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission (AUSSOM) to maintain conscious discipline. He emphasized that this discipline is essential for professionalism, mission success, and career development during his address to the personnel.

The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) of Somalia conducted an operation in Basra that resulted in the death of a leader of an Al-Shabaab mortar unit. According to NISA, this operation significantly impacted the network responsible for planning and executing mortar attacks. However, subsequent intelligence reports suggested that the group removed the bodies of their slain leaders from the site and buried them elsewhere.

The Nilotic community in Somalia has received little academic attention compared to the Somali Bantu, whose history has been more extensively documented in recent years. This lack of recognition highlights the need for further exploration of the Nilotic presence in the region, which remains largely overlooked, according to Tanzania Times.
