Traders in Lagos report that stockfish heads have become increasingly scarce in recent months, resulting in significant price increases across local markets. This scarcity has fueled heightened demand for the product, according to sources from the market.

The annual inflation rate in Kenya decreased to 6.4% in June 2026, down from 6.7% in May, marking the first slowdown since February 2026. This decline was attributed to lower price increases in transportation and food, with transportation rising by 16.1% compared to 16.5% in the previous month, and food prices increasing by 8.6% versus 9.4%.

Depot prices for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, have decreased across various terminals in Lagos, with Rain Oil leading the reduction by cutting prices by N18 per litre. Additionally, diesel prices have also seen a significant drop, falling by up to N70 per litre. This adjustment in prices comes as petroleum marketers respond to changing supply dynamics in Nigeria's downstream oil market, according to Vanguard Business.
